Hackney Council has released waste and recycling data following a Freedom of Information request by a member of the Sustainable Hackney Steering Group:-.

The data shows that:

  • Household Recycling rate has been just under 25% up to December 2012.  It will be interesting to see what happens once data from the first quarter of the new recycling system comes in.
  • Commercial Recycling rates have increased steadily and reached 15% by the end of 2012.  Congratulations are due to the council for the increase in non-household recycling.

We will continue to request data and monitor the results.
