Hi everyone,
Is anyone worried about the air pollution in Hackney? In lots of key areas (Stoke Newington, Stamford Hill, Shoreditch) the pollutants exceed the European and World Health Organisation safe limits. These are places that are used every day by the people that live in Hackney! Air pollution caused over 4,000 deaths in London last year and on top of that there are lots of health problems including heart and lung disease, cancer and asthma.
I work for a charity called Sustrans and we are looking for people or groups in Hackney that want to do something to improve the air quality in Hackney. We provide lots of training, resources and 1 to 1 support. We also have a small funding pot which you can apply to.
If anyone is interested in the project or would like more information let me know. I'd also be interested to hear people's thoughts on air quality. Does it worry you? Should it be under the 'issues' tab on this website?
Thanks!
Kate

Perfect- thanks!
Also I am organising a public meeting for Monday 11th March, 6pm, Stoke Newington Town Hall
The meeting will let people know about the air quality problem in Hackney and what can be done.
Hope to see you there!
