We need you to help us push for a repurposing of the Silvertown Tunnel!
While Hackney Council has already stated its opposition to the planned Sivertown Tunnel on behalf of residents, we still need to engage with the London Mayor, Sadiq Khan, as he continues to try and push through the project in its current form. While the Silvertown Tunnel would not be in Hackney, it would have a hugely negative effect on the traffic travelling through our Borough and make it even more challenging to bring Hackney's air pollution down to safe levels.
We're asking as many people as possible to fill out the current consultation on cycling provisions for the tunnel from the Mayor of London, which you can find
here. By increasing access for cyclists we can try to reduce the increase in traffic as much as possible while aiming for cyclists to feel safe to travel under the river. The deadline for responses to the consultation is
Sunday 10th September 2023, so make sure to share your thoughts as soon as possible.
