Sustainable Hackney is planning to expand the coverage of its green maps over the coming months, and we've got help from Hackney Council to do it. Hackney is providing desk space and IT facilities for an intern to work with us to add many more items to the map and develop new icons.
The new icons allow us to separate food from food growing, local community groups from regeneration projects and cycling from other transport. We also want to expand our coverage of the local economy beyond green business.
When we started putting the printed map online we discovered that 30-40% of the items had changed in the last four years and we replaced them with a number of new projects, see Green Maps.
We've got another 80-100 items to add to the maps and we'll also be providing links to other map-based websites with local information. We're hoping to complete this by the end of March. Please let us know of any items to add to the maps.
