Hackney Council say they are committed to putting the community in Hackney Central at the heart of plans for the Tesco site at 55 Morning Lane, which could help to deliver new homes, better public spaces and a new Tesco supermarket.
The council bought the site to ensure they could directly influence what would be built in this key town centre location and have appointed architects Levitt Bernstein to start work on the first set of broad ideas and options for the site.
They are hosting a number of meetings and workshops for people to attend between now and February - with the first community workshop on 7 December at 11.30am-1.30pm at Hackney Central Library. This will provide an introduction to the site, the current timeline, an introduction to architects Levitt Bernstein, and an overview of the things that need to be considered when designing any plans for the site.
People will also be able to tell the Council what they’d like meetings to cover as they continue in 2025.
Registration is not essential, but signing up helps organisers get an idea of how many people to expect.
