Event Description

The Free2Learn Close Protection course is open to individuals that can meet the following criteria:
 
    Have a minimum of 2 years security experience (preferably in a management or supervisory role)
    Or have an Ex-Forces or Police background.
    Claiming JSA or other income-related benefits (proof will be required)
    Over 19 yrs old from August 2012
    Resident in the UK or EU for the past 3 years with the right to work in the UK.
    Ideally hold a valid driving licence.

 (Please note that if you do not meet the above criteria then you will not be invited for assessment).
 
If you feel you meet the criteria then we ask you to submit your CV to Mike@free2learn.org.uk where if successful you will be invited to attend an assessment.

With many troops being pulled out of military service, this job market is becoming more competitive. It’s more important than ever to have the right qualifications in the private security industry.

Who is this course for?

This course is designed for people who want to work as a close protection officer and therefore require a licence to practise.

 What will you get out of it?

After completing this course, you will have an in-depth knowledge of the private security industry. With the additional courses such as team leading, customer service and work skills, you will have a significant advantage getting a job in the industry.

    BTEC Certificate in Customer Service
    BTEC Certificate in Team Leading
    BTEC Certificate in Knowledge of Providing Security Services
    Certificate in Work Skills

 What will you learn?

Detailed knowledge about the private security industry covering the following subjects, and more:

    Understanding close protection legislation that is relevant to people working in the industry
    The roles and responsibilities of the close protection operative
    The importance of threat assessment and risk management
    Surveillance techniques
    Understanding venue security operations
    The importance of teamwork, interpersonal skills and reconnaissance.

Knowledge and understanding of the security industry, focusing on the core area of security guarding.

Customer service skills and tools designed specifically for people who want to work in customer-service related roles.

The knowledge, understanding and personal attributes you need to become a team leader or enter a managerial role.

Work skills give you a competitive advantage when applying for a job and help you to succeed in employment.

In order to qualify for our free courses, you need to be:

    Over 19 years from 1 August 2012
    Currently receiving JSA, ESA or Income Support
    Resident in the UK or EU for the past 3 years with the right to work in the UK.
    Two years experience in the Security Industry or army background
