PLEASE NOTE TIME CHANGE!! Free PACT Wildlife walk (Bats Night walk from 8-9PM)
Did you know Manor House has a thriving bat population? Have you ever wanted to learn more about these creatures of the night? Then come down and join us for our latest Free PACT wildlife walk and find out more about how bats see in the dark, what they eat and if all those vampire stories are true.
A dry night is preferable for a bat walk, but bats will brave very light showers. Provided the weather is right, bats appear and everyone has a fun and educational time, watching and hearing them echolocate through a Bat Detector. (A bat detector is a device used to detect the presence of bats, by converting their ultra-frequency sounds to within our own audible level).
The walk will be guided by local Bat expert Jeanette Sitton, from North London Bats, an education, mitigation and community participation group. Jeanette has worked closely with the London Borough of Haringey on bat mitigation matters, including: enhancing and creating habitats; installing roosting and maternity bat boxes; reducing street lamp glare in green areas, (which disturbs bats and most other nocturnal creatures), and more.
Everyone is welcome; so bring the family, your neighbours and friends. The walk should last about an hour and it is free
Meet outside the Castle Climbing Centre, Green Lanes, N4 2HA, near the front doors, before the walk begins and heads along the New River Walk.
Note: Were sorry that the path is not accessible to wheelchairs and we advise that you wear suitable footwear in case of mud but hopefully the sun will shine!
