Event Description

Sustainable Hackney has thrown our support behind the East London Waterworks Park (ELWP) scheme (despite much of the proposed development being in Waltham Forest borough). We are saddened to hear that the scheme is threatened by plans to build a secure facility for children on the same plot of land.

The ELWP has submitted a petition to Waltham Forest Council with the valid number of signatures necessary to trigger a full council debate. They are awaiting the date of this vital council meeting to discuss the future of the Thames Water Depot, the land where the ELWP would be located.

There will be a public meeting on Monday 8th July at 7:30pm, to discuss what happens next. Speakers will include Alice Roberts (CPRE London) and Antoinette Fernandez (Green Party), with more to be announced.
