About this event

We all know how vital reducing the energy consumption of our homes is. The scientific evidence is there for us all to see. Frustratingly there is still a lack of any sort of national retrofit strategy from the UK government. This is why bottom up driven initiatives are so vital. Join us as we hear from two organisations, People Powered Retrofit and RetrofitWorks, about how their models for delivering retrofit to homes work.  And hear from three community energy groups to share where they are on their journeys to deliver retrofit programmes in their communities. Drinks provided!

---

People Powered Retrofit

A partnership led by Carbon Co-op and URBED with funding from the Department of Business Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS), ‘People Powered Retrofit’ is a householder-led approach to domestic energy efficiency retrofit in Greater Manchester.

---

RetrofitWorks

RetrofitWorks is a not-for-profit cooperative who offers its services at the lowest possible cost to further our mission lower energy bills, create healthy homes and achieve Net Zero. Active and innovating since 2013, we’ve been working tirelessly to improve the environment for contractors, homeowners, and everyone in between across in the UK, making it easier to change homes for the better.

---

Zero Carbon Daviot

Zero Carbon Daviot is a community run organisation, awaiting confirmation as a Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation (SCIO). The group was established to bring about radical reductions in carbon emissions in order to avoid runaway climate change. This is driven through a range of projects that aim to decarbonise how we live and to restore our natural environment for the wellbeing of the community in Daviot, Aberdeenshire.

---

Stokey Energy

A community benefit society based in Hackney, London, our mission is to transition to a zero-carbon neighbourhood and demonstrate that communities can take positive action to respond to the climate crisis. To date the main offering has been domestic solar installations as well as community building installations including schools, with assistance with funding from the GLA. Our next move is a retrofit offer.

---

Loco Home Retrofit

Supporting energy conscious home improvement in Glasgow. We’re building a novel community-based approach to home energy decarbonisation. We aim to reduce the hassle of maintaining and improving homes while incorporating energy efficiency and decarbonisation measures. The project is in development and we’re keen to hear from homeowners, building professionals, other social entrepreneurs and local trades.
