There is an exciting opportunity to join the People's Kitchen Team, we are recruiting for a People’s Kitchen coordinator role. This will be a paid position for 1 day a week.

People’s Kitchen Co-ordinator
People’s Kitchen is looking for a friendly individual to join us a co-ordinator. We are a small team of core volunteers that work with a wider group of volunteers to run a weekly community kitchen in Dalston, serving delicious meals using surplus food. We aim to raise awareness of food waste, actively divert food from landfill, and bring people together through preparing and sharing a meal. With the popularity of the weekly kitchen growing, we are in need of a co-ordinator to organise the logistics to ensure it continues to run smoothly, develop and flourish.
Co-ordinator’s responsibilities
The co-ordinator will be responsible for organising the weekly kitchen, including:
• Maintaining, updating and circulating the team leader schedule
• Financial recording of weekly donations and expenses and provide updates to team leaders on current budget
• Maintaining and developing the website and Facebook page, including listings of weekly and one-off People’s Kitchen events
• Liaising with local suppliers and informing them of changes to the regular schedule and of special events
• Keeping track of stock and equipment
• Maintaining the mailing list database
• Keeping track of funding the team applies for
Essential qualities
• Experience of co-ordinating a small scale project
• Commitment to a sustainable lifestyle and an interest in tackling food waste
• Good written and verbal communication skills
• Good organisational and time-keeping skills
• Ability to carry out administrative tasks
• Good ICT skills and experience of using social networking sites
• Ability to use own initiative and to work as part of a small team
• Able and willing to work flexible hours
The role will be for 1 day a week for 6 months, with a 1 month trial period. The rate of pay is £50 per day, with expenses by agreement at start of contract. The day and location of the role are flexible. This is a freelance position and the post holder will be responsible for paying tax and NI.
