Currently there is a Lottery Heritage fund application to restore and improve Springfield Park. The White Lodge with cafe, stable buildings and green house have fallen into disrepair and other aspects in the wider park need attention. On the whole this is a fantastic opportunity to see the park's buildings restored and returned to the park for everyone to enjoy.
Hackney council have circulated the proposals for the parks development, but is there too much development where green space should be left to just be exactly that. A green space.
My interest on this concerns the Springfield park bowling green which although no longer functions as a fully pristine bowling lawn, has a little pavilion and could be reinstated for casual play and multiple play uses rather than be dug over and developed. Once it is gone it is lost as a valuable green space.
To support keeping the bowling green, please go to this link for more information and to sign.

Also, I would love to hear from local residents/families who have an interest or already bowl, play petanque or bocce. Please get in touch!
Thank you,
Deborah
