A food swap is a seasonally event where people come together to share, exchange andd celebrate homemade, homegrown, or foraged edible goods with each other. Swaps allow direct trades to take place between attendees, e.g., a loaf of bread for a jar of pickles or a half-dozen backyard eggs. These events are a great way to diversify the homemade foods in your own pantry while getting to know members of your local food community.
Everyone is welcome! You just need to bring anything you canned, jarred, cooked, baked, blended, created, produced, foraged or grew yourself. You must pre-register to attend.
We look for places that develop sense of community through their activities and passion. We are happy to announce that for our first food swap The Russet will host the Hackney Food Swap event.
All swap items must be homemade, homegrown, or foraged by you. Think pickles, preserves, baked goods, honey, granola, pasta, fruits, vegetables, herbs, spices and foods along these lines. Bring as little or as much as you like. You can bring a bunch of one thing or multiples of a few different things.
