Hackney Parks Forum

Hackney Parks Forum is a voluntary body whose members are made up of Park User Groups and other environmentally based groups who care about Parks and Green Spaces in Hackney. Our aims and objectives are: To represent users of parks and green spaces by working in partnership with Hackney Council in the preservation, conservation, maintenance and development of those spaces for the benefit of the whole community.

We meet with Council Officers, Head of Parks, Area Managers, Rangers and Gardeners to consult on a regular basis and discuss mutually interesting issues to meet those aims and objectives. We have also assisted the Council in developing policies and strategies.

Some of our work has involved organising planting days (bulbs, trees and shrubs), guided walks through, and to and from, Parks and green spaces, educational days for children in the green environment, clean-up days, events organisation – music, sports, children’s activities, cycling and walking play days for children.

Parks and Green spaces are a community resource open to everyone; they provide an environment of tranquillity and beauty if that’s what you want. They provide a space for families and friends to enjoy together; they provide excitement through sport and other events; they can be what you want them to be. They provide a focal point for the community to come together and interact in a positive way, sharing experiences, which helps to bond a community together.
