Hi folks,

Following on from Russell's excellent bee walk last week I went out to see what I could find. In the short time I was there I found the need for a bee book (ordered) and a hoverfly book.  Any ideas?

Stuart Ball and Roger Morris have just published an excellent, accessible photogrpahic guide with simple keys:

I have a copy you can borrow.

Thanks Russell. but I think the amount of time I anticipate spending with my nose glued to the pages this summer, I think I'll get one. Cheers, Gina.

Wow, hoverflies are obviously the things to look at in Abney. I was just checking back through photos taken last month and discovered this amazing bumble bee mimic

Really good catch Russell, I'm sure there's more to come from the hoverflies!
