Help for volunteer-led groups
Hackney Council is launching Volunteering for Hackney, a new scheme to help small community-based volunteer-led groups in Hackney. The aim of the scheme is to support frontline and grassroots community groups relying on volunteers (minimum 10 volunteers, no staff or maximum of one paid staff, income of less than £5,000/year) to sustain and grow.
If successful, groups will receive:
Potential grants of up to £1,000
Help with fundraising
Free meeting rooms
Help with social media and communications
Promotion of their activities through Council channels
Free training on topics such as recruiting and retaining volunteers, safeguarding etc.
Help on how to make volunteering more inclusive
Support to explore the wider social benefits of their activities with volunteers
Help to break down barriers they may be experiencing either across the Council or elsewhere
Membership of a new and exciting high profile project network in Hackney.
