Groundwork London is a social and environmental regeneration charity, working with partners to build sustainable communities where individuals and enterprise prosper.

In partnership with the London Community Resource Network, we are launching the LIFE+ funded REPURPOSE project an exciting and innovative furniture and appliance reuse project. This is a fantastic opportunity to help shape one of five pilot reuse operations and see it through from ideas stage to establishing a viable social enterprise. Working to set up and run the estate-based reuse hub, you will be responsible for developing a customer focused reuse service to reduce fly-tipping.

Leading a Reuse Assistant and a small team of volunteers, you will perform a pivotal role in the hub, enthusing quality service provision within the team, maintaining relations with caretakers, waste contractors and housing providers, and motivating residents to improve their local environment through the behavioural change programme. You will be experienced in project coordination and familiar with monitoring and reporting systems.

You will need motivation, intuition and enthusiasm with a minimum of one year’s experience of leading a team.  You will also possess an understanding of reuse and recycling, an ability to work on your own initiative, be target driven and demonstrate empathy with the residents.
There is scope for the role of the Coordinator to vary across the hubs, for example to include running an up-cycling workshop for furniture refurbishment. The selected candidates will be appointed to the hub matching their skills and experience.

This challenging and rewarding role is an excellent opportunity to join a fast growing and dynamic Trust, which delivers projects in some of London’s most exciting neighbourhoods.  We offer excellent benefits including generous annual leave, flexible working hours and training and career development opportunities.

We place great emphasis on working with London’s diverse communities and all team members must demonstrate experience and commitment to equal opportunities and working with socially excluded groups in the inner city.

Further information regarding this post can be obtained by contacting Sophie Maqsood at Groundwork London on 07702 942160 or by email to sophie.maqsood@groundwork.org.uk

Postholders will be considered to be working in a Regulated Activity as set out in Schedule 4 of the Safeguarding Vulnerable Groups Act 2006; appointment to this post is subject to a Disclosure and Barring Scheme Criminal Records Check.

Groundwork London is an equal opportunities employer and welcomes applications from all members of the community.
