Foodcycle Hackney is seeking Cooking and Hosting Project Leaders

FoodCycle is a national charity that provides delicious, three-course meals to the local community, using surplus food that woThe Hackney uld otherwise go to waste.

The Hackney project runs every Thursday lunchtime at New Kingshold Community Centre on Ainsworth Road and is a great space for the community to share a hot meal and conversation.

Foodcycle projects around London are completely run by volunteers and each Project is run on the ground by a team of called Project Leaders  with each leader taking on a specific role to ensure the smooth running of their FoodCycle Project. These people are passionate, committed and want to make a positive change within their community. They take ownership and make decisions about the day-to-day running of their Project.

The Hackney Project is currently looking for people to help us out in any way they can!   Key PL roles include:

  • Cooking PL (induct volunteers, facilitate the team, create recipe ideas, lead on the preparation and cooking of the meal)
  • Hosting PL (induct volunteers, facilitate team to lay tables, greet guests, and serve the food, run the front of house, create a warm and friendly atmosphere)

There’s plenty more information about becoming a Project Leader on the website, here.

It’s a great way to spend a Thursday afternoon, giving back to the community, through food and great conversation.
