Made In Hackney – Local Food Kitchen (An AMURT-UK project, registered charity 327216)
Made In Hackney - Local Food Kitchen believes everyone should have access to grow, cook and eat nutritious food that’s good for both people and planet. In our beautiful recycled kitchen nestled underneath not-for-profit health food shop Food For All in Stoke Newington we aim to help Hackney residents – and beyond - achieve exactly that. In a relaxed, fun and supportive environment participants in our courses and workshops will be equipped with lost-art (like Grandma/Granddad used to do!) cookery techniques and be taught the skills and knowledge to create delicious affordable meals and dishes from locally sourced, seasonal ingredients.
Many of our courses begin with an introduction to food growing so participants develop a relationship with fresh produce from soil to saucepan. We also cover home composting, ethical food sourcing and using local food in multicultural cuisine. We offer free training and competitive hire rates to local food start-ups, provide a facility for local growers to process surplus crops into products and have an apprentice and volunteer program for people to get involved and help with the project.
