A cooperative to supply daily produce and raise awareness and funds for campaign and progressive issues
Hey how about starting up a CO-OP. to supply daily shopping needs and to raise funds for good causes etc.?
Oops! too late, it's already been done. The CO-OPERATIVE Somerfield, Clapton closed on June 21 st due to lack of support.
The coop was started and developed over a hundred years as an alternative to capitalist trading practice. They have an illustrious history which is badly promoted by members. One of my favourite facts is that they refused to give their dairy herds the hormone injections to boost milk yields in the 1980 s. During apartheid sanctions, their orange juice cartons contained no South African Juice.
They also support a non -militaristic children's organisation called, 'the woodcraft Folk.
