Green Wood Working involves the use of traditional hand tools, heritage craft techniques and human power to make items from freshly felled timber.
In this one day spoon carving workshop, participants will learn the principles and practical skills to make a wooden spoon. From selecting timber, splitting wood, and carving techniques using axes and knives.
Joseph is a designer and green wood worker who lives and works in London, producing hand made items from spoons, cups and bowls, to stools, furniture and larger bespoke commissions. He is a member of London Green Wood, a community led group based at Abney Park Cemetery (Stoke Newington) who teach green wood working skills. He has been carving spoons for 8 years and is currently working on a project to carve one spoon every day for a year.
