As part of Real Nappy Week Hackney Real Nappy Network are staging a take over of Fabrications on Broadway Market.

On Weds 18th April you can drop in all day and find out about washable cloth nappies, see different models, try out putting them on and off and have all those questions answered.

In the Imaginerium (Fabrications new education centre) you can join in workshops to learn how to make your own eco-friendly, bespoke baby-wear and nappy accessories from up-cycled textiles.

10am Make your own washable wet wipes & wet bags 

With Hannah Lamdin from Love & Labour

This workshop will show you how to transform fabric waste into your own, individual washable wipes and a drawstring wet bag (for wet nappies while out and about).  Bring along any no longer used/remnants of cotton fabric and worn towel or fleece.  Some fabrics will be available to choose from.  No previous sewing experience required.

2pm Make Your Own Upcycled Baby / Toddler Trousers

With Kimberley from Mini Magpie 

This class will teach you how to turn your old jumper into a cosy and comfy eco-friendly pair of trousers for your little one or as a gift.

Bring one or two old wool jumpers which you have pre-washed at 60 degrees. The longer the arms of the jumper, the larger the trousers will turn out.

You will need basic sewing skills for this class.

Each workshop lasts 3 hours, with an introduction to real nappies from Hackney Real Nappy Network.

Please note; young babies are most welcome and we want this event to be inclusive and open to all, however if you wish to participate in a workshop it is not suitable for babies on the move and there is not buggy space so please bring them in a sling/carrier.
