Event Description

The Don’t Ditch Fairtrade coalition, led by CAFOD (one of the founders of the Fairtrade Foundation), is organising a National Day of Action on Saturday 28 October as part of their campaign to stop Sainsbury’s ditching the Fairtrade Mark from their own-brand tea.

They’re asking supporters to come together outside their local Sainsbury’s store on 28 October and take action: chat to customers, collect signatures on a letter to the store manager, invite the local press down. And they’ve got lots of resources to help you out, see https://www.dontditchfairtrade.com/

If you’re busy on the 28 October but would still like to get involved, you can still sign the sign the Change.org petition started by Fairtrade supporter Barbara Gwinnett.

The Fairtrade Foundation remains focused on finding a way forward with Sainsbury’s that is in the best interests of the tea farmers and workers we represent, and are still hopeful that through discussions we can see their own-brand tea go back to being Fairtrade certified.

And of course, please keep choosing Fairtrade certified tea and asking your friends, family and local community to do the same.
