As the overall strategic plan for London, the new London Plan sets out an integrated economic, environmental, transport and social framework for the development of London over the next 20-25 years. The GLA writes that "It puts ‘good growth’ at the heart of planning, seeking to improve the health and quality of life for all Londoners, reducing inequalities by tackling disadvantage and discrimination, and ensuring that the city is a more pleasant place for all its citizens to live, work and visit. It seeks to use the continued growth of the city as a positive asset to address the various challenges that London will face in the future to ensure all Londoners can share in the benefits and successes of the city.”
Community organisations and citizens are invited to this meeting which will be an opportunity to hear both from GLA staff and from diverse london-wide and local communities and to debate the strengths and weaknesses of the draft Plan. The meeting will comprise plenary sessions and workshops on key themes and is designed to help organisations and individuals to respond to the consultation, which closes on 2 March 2018. Partners include London Forum, London Tenants Federation, Friends of the Earth and many other city wide and local groups.
