Event Description

Sunday 21st September 12-6pm marks the 2nd annual festival celebrating the Hidden River running through Hackney and Haringey.

400 years ago, the New River, which is actually neither new nor a river, was built to bring Londoners fresh water from the springs of Hertfordshire and still provides drinking water to the capital today. Yet the reservoirs and New River, just off Green Lanes is a relatively unexplored city oasis and a haven for wildlife!

Last year’s Hidden River Festival helped raised community awareness of this fantastic local asset and buoyed by this success, Manor House Development Trust has teamed up with partners to bring the local community another free waterside festival with a mix of local live music, healthy food stalls, arts and crafts, workshops, and a kids area in the grounds of the West Reservoir Centre just off Green Lanes, N4.

Confirmed performers on the main stage include The Turbans, Astrid Brook, a local folk singer/songwriter, General Skank, an 8-piece reggae band and Dila V & The Oddbeats, a gypsy eastern folk band. Young people from the Edge Youth Hub on Woodberry Grove will also take to the stage to showcase their talents

With all the changes happening in the area because of the redevelopment of the Woodberry Down estate, the festival will be a great opportunity to bring people together, to make new friends and enjoy the diversity of our local community!
