Supporters of the campaign to save Haggerston Pool are bitterly disappointed that the two shortlisted bids do not include a proposal with a swimming pool. Details of the bids are given in the Hackney Citizen and Hackney Gazette articles.
Haggerston Pool Public Meeting
Wednesday April 12th at 6.30pm (doors open 6pm)
Centre 151 (next door to Haggerston Pool), Whiston Road, E2 8BL
Hosted by the Mayor of Hackney
The purpose of the meeting will be
- How did we get here? The council will explain the process, and why they were unable to find a bidder who could open a pool in the building and respond to questions
- Meeting the 2 bidders - the bidders on the shortlist will be present, and can answer questions about how they are proposing to develop the building
The council say there will also be 2 drop-in sessions also at Centre 151, next to Haggerston Pool, on 28th March and 27th April both from 6 - 8pm.
The council will also be running a public consultation, from March 13th to May 5th, which will also be advertised through Hackney Today, and on the council's website.
Following the meetings and the consultation, officers will use all the feedback to inform a report to the council cabinet, which will make the final decision between the 2 bidders, and the contract will be awarded.
