During lockdown here at Hackney Fixers we turned our hand to collecting and repairing laptops so local schoolkids could learn online.  The experience brought home to us the digital divide in our society and how our spare resources can be re-used to address social need.

That digital divide is not so visible now, but it is still there and we can help do something about it.

So at our events this year we will be accepting laptop donations.   We also have other donation points if you can't make the event.  We are looking for machines with minimum specification:

• 2009 or later
• With charger
• With webcam
• In working condition
• Apple laptops must be reset prior to donation.

All laptops will be data-wiped and if not re-useable will be recycled.  Refurbished laptops will be donated to local schools and community projects.
