Working with Clay series with Cob in the community:
London sits on a bed of clay; it's about 58 million years old and over 200ft deep. "Isn't it time we put this material to great urban use?" asks Linda Royles: founder and director of London's leading earth building company Cob in the Community. http://www.cobinthecommunity.org/
Over a series of hands in the dirt one day activities we will explore and learn how to transform some of London's deep abundance underground into a range of exciting uses: sculpting, brick making, building walls, clay ovens, micro climates, pallet n daub, to the anarchy of seed bombs.
Initially we are kicking off with two one day courses focusing on building, firing and maintaining cob ovens, and, subject to demand will continue exploring other mud themes and uses.
No previous building experience required.
