As the summer draws to a close, Living Streets is hoping to make it last just a little bit longer for their Street Party on The Narrow Way, in aid of International Car Free Day on 22 September. Project coordinator Hannah Gibbs tells us more.
We’ve been working with Hackney Council and local shops and community groups to organise a day that celebrates the area’s history and looks to its future.
On 22 September, this bustling shopping street will be transformed for the day with a children’s treasure hunt, swing dancing classes, Zumba dance demonstrations, drawing workshops and historical guided walks.
The day will be great fun and also give the opportunity for locals to voice their opinions on the future of this street. We’re really hoping that closing off the road to traffic completely and filling it with activity will help everyone to see how streets can work better for people on foot.
So if you're in London, come along and celebrate the Narrow Way transformed into a people-friendly place. 22 September, 11am-4pm. All welcome.
