Walthamstow Wetlands is Europe's largest urban wetlands, spanning a giant 211 hectares of rare natural habitat, and reopened its doors to the public for the first time on October 20th after 150 years.

The project has undergone much redesign and investment to enrich existing habitat whilst growing new ones, encouraging biodiversity and wildlife to blossom and attracting rare new birds to the area.

The Wetlands are providing the public with an opportunity to reconnect with nature. There is a visitor centre with cafe, shop and exhibition space. They also provide the public with activities, events, workshops, and volunteering opportunities for all ages to get involved in.

On top of it being a beautiful habitat for all to enjoy, it also continues to supply 3.5 million local Londoners with water.

You can get involved by helping us care for the habitats, by assisting as a guide on various tours and workshops or as a welcome host in the visitor centre as well as volunteering at larger events that will be taking place on the site throughout the year."
