Video of the Marxism and Nature conference

Marxism has for too long been characterised as having a singular preoccupation with the exploitation of labour and the class struggle. However, the works of Marx and Engels always had at their core a deep awareness that the process of capital accumulation also involved the parallel exploitation of nature and consequent environmental destruction. The conference explored this theme, too long relegated to the margins, and argued for it be brought to the fore and urgently re-prioritised in the period of the ‘anthropozene’ and climate emergency .

This video of the conference shows sessions on:

  • Marxism and ecology
  • Biodiversity and species conservation
  • Scientists and socialism
  • The Anthropocene
