    Hello John,

I'm glad to see you've joined Sustainable Hackney website and was going to contact you anyway.

I am working on a project with the backing of Sustainable Hackney and using Rhodes Estate in Dalston as an example to try get Hackney Homes to stop using Roundup on housing estates - and instead to design out area where weeds grow (e.g. where soil has leaked out onto paths from under people’s fences) and to plant wild flowers in border areas around green squares etc – as you have done on Clapton Park Estate.  Hackney Homes have already agreed to stop spraying in some areas, near play equipment and food growing but ideally we’d like to see a complete ban on the use of Roundup everywhere.

I’ve gathered good evidence on potential dangers with the use of Roundup but I was wondering if you could provide me with data re the cost of a switch in management regime? I guess the purchase, storage and use of Roundup still costs less than more labour intensive alternatives?

Hope to hear from you soon.

    Michael
