Event Description

This could be the biggest climate education conference ever. It aims to go a short distance towards bridging the current education crisis and long-term gap in the teaching of climate change.
In this unprecedented time, where many young people all over the world lack access to climate education.
Teachers and students have worked in challenging circumstances to rapidly improvise the use of online learning.
As a response to this educational deficit, and utlising the fact educators and learners are now more connected, a group of teachers are launching an online climate education conference on 4th July, ‘The BIG Climate Teach-In’.
Young people from around the world will connect, of their own accord, to the biggest ever climate education conference. It will include a series of short 30-minute workshops from teachers from around the UK, students who are part of Teach the Future and also experts. Professor Leon Sealey-Huggins of the University of Warwick and Professor Chris Rapley of UCL will be doing a Q&A with questions sent in by students beforehand.
Following the success of last year’s schools climate conference at UCL, this one-day online event is for everyone. Sessions will explore the climate and ecological emergency, currently not taught in schools, as well as how to deal with climate anxiety and the links between climate change and race. The event will be live-streamed on youtube and include discussion and workshops around questions such as; Why act now?
How can I mobilise action in school? How can schools better connect with nature? Students will leave with both the knowledge and skills to affect change within their local communities.
