Event Description

Hackney Council declares Climate Emergency - But what comes next???

Sustainable Hackney is organising an Open Meeting on Weds 31 July, 7-9pm, at the Rhodes Estate Community Centre, off Dalston Lane, to ask, What comes next? What do we want, and When do we want it??

Looking ahead, the Council is convening a Climate Emergency Citizens Assembly on Sunday 17 November. That's four months away. We need a plan now, and some things need doing right away...

Sessions

What's in the council's Emergency Declaration?

We are in a climate crisis. What more must the council do?

Debating the issues... Real Divestment, Airport expansion (including City Airport), school curriculum, a Just Transition to a zero carbon world, generate clean/renewable energy in the borough, energy efficient/affordable homes, clean/sustainable travel, air quality, plastics, safe streets...What ideas, demands, actions do you have?

Breakout - workshops on the issues raised at the meeting

Reducing the carbon footprint of our consumption

Back together …Setting our demands
