On February 13th and 14th, thousands of people across 5 continents will turn out to take collective action demanding divestment from fossil fuels. We want Hackney to be in on the action.

London is a leading financial centre and global city. As Hackney Climate Heroes and Londoners, we’ll be calling on our capital city to show leadership (and love) this Valentines Day and end its dangerous relationship with fossil fuels. 

The Mayor and London Assembly say that they are fully committed to both reducing London’s impact on the climate and safeguarding the city’s future against the impacts of climate change. However, their pension fund invests millions of pounds in fossil fuel companies every year.

On Saturday 14th February we, along with thousands of other divest activists forma across the city, will be flooding* City Hall to highlight the devastating consequences of these investments, and demanding our city goes fossil free. 

Arrive for a 12.30 sharp start as we’ll spell out our message loud and clear to Boris and the London Assembly in giant human letters. We’ll have speakers from inspiring divestment campaigns and communities already being impacted by climate change. And Boris himself might even pay us a visit...

Divest Hackney will be forming a small group at the action. Bring yourselves and your friends to represent your borough and your future.
