(the surroundings are out of date (doesn't show recent developments St Theresa's Close and Marsh Centre) but the location is accurate)
entrance off Marsh Centre car park
London E9 5PF
Nearest buses, to Olympic Park North stop:
308 from Stratford station, or from Lea Bridge Road / Millfields
W15 from Hackney Central, or from Walthamstow Central & Blackhorse Road
- Olympic Park North is the only stop on the marshes section of Homerton Road, and is almost outside the Tree Nursery. On the marsh (not woodland) side of the road, turn so the wall or fence is on your right and walk along about 10 or 20 yards. You'll see the nursery through the fence. Turn right through gates into the car park for the Marsh Centre (long low building on the left with facades of rocks and rusted steel). Follow the fence till it bends right to 2 entrances, the right-hand of which is into the nursery. If you get into St Theresa's Close (residential travellers' site) by mistake, then exit, turn right and follow these directions from the top.
Buses to Clapton Pond (38, 48, 55, 56, 106, 242, 253, 254, 393, 425, 488) or rail to Clapton BR.
- Then walk via Hackney Marshes. We recommend the path along the east side of the marsh, by the old River Lea. If you're lucky you may see the kingfisher.
You can also walk from Ruckholt Road across East Marsh, or through the Olympic 'Park' from Stratford and over the land bridge onto East Marsh.
