With the increasing congestion on the Regent's canal towpath, plans are afoot to develop alternative cycling routes that run parallel to the canal, all the way from Camden, through Islington and Hackney to Tower Hamlets. The Canal and River Trust is leading the project, with the involvement of the London Cycling Campaign, and Friends of the Earth local groups.
