Homerton Grove - solar panel relaunch!

Homerton Grove Adventure Playground has been at the heart of the Homerton community for many years. The playground is regularly open for local children to enjoy.

In the centre of the playground is a building used for many children’s activities. The building was built by volunteers. In 1995, the building became home to the first grid connected solar roof tile PV system.

This brilliant PV system has given many kW of electricity to the building below over the subsequent years, but it has not been generating for the past three years because it needed an inverter replacement.

Hackney Energy volunteers and Banister House Solar Co-operative interns have been helping rewire the panels and replace the inverter. The panels are now providing electricity to the buildings at Homerton Grove again. On Saturday 20th September from 12:00 – 14:00 Hackney Energy will be holding an open event in Homerton Grove Adventure Playground to mark the relaunch of the panels and celebrate Community Energy Fortnight. Do come along, and bring your kids!
