Don't forget to vote for your choice of London Mayor and GLA representatives on 5th May!

You've got three votes:

  • One for your first and second choice of mayor
  • Another for an assembly member to represent your local constituency (North-East London)
  • A third to choose one of the 11 assembly members who represent the whole city

    Hope beat fear in the London Mayoral contest with Labour's Sadiq Khan gaining 57% of the vote after counting second-preferences.  Sadiq's green credentials could be stronger with FOE saying that: 

    "Sadiq Khan, scoring a respectable 8/10, has some very good policies on issues such as renewables, divestment, stopping fracking, and reviewing the London Plan in the light of the Paris climate agreement.

    However, Sadiq’s strong support for a new runway at Gatwick is a significant weak point in his environmental policies.

    In addition, his unwillingness so far to tackle cold homes by introducing minimum energy efficiency standards in private rented housing, and his lack of sufficient commitment to dealing with the air pollution which blights Londoners’ lives, have let him down."     Sian Berry increased the Green Party's share of the mayoral vote yet again to 5.8% from 4.5% in 2011 and 3.2% in 2006.  The Green Party is now firmly established as the third party in London, and polled 13% in the North-East London constituency (Islington, Hackney and Waltham Forest).
