Event Description

Please come along to Sustainable Hackney’s AGM, social and networking event from 7pm on 25th June 2014, at Dalston's wonderful Eastern Curve garden.

We will be making the business snappy this year so come at  6.30 for a 7.00 pm start. Then we'll be getting on with the important business of socialising and networking.  We want representatives all the local organisations to come along to meet each other, network, have fun and get some collaborations going!

So far we have Hackney Energy, Restart Hackney, Hackney Cycling Campaign, EcoActive, Tree Musketeers, Abney Park User Group, Hackney and Tower Hamlets Friends of the Earth, Hackney Food Partnership, Hackney Marsh User Group, Hackney Community Tree Nursery and Edible Forest Garden, waste Watch, Save Lea Marches  and that's just the ones we know about!

There will be a bar and food from the People's Kitchen available so do come along and enjoy!

There is.

I'd have liked to take this opportunity to start a public debate about developing an active relationship between SH and the local Green Party. It seems completely daft to have a borough-wide organisation focused on all things sustainable and a local political party with a very similar agenda, which have no apparent relationship. Had the two been working together before the recent local elections, we might now have Green Party representation on the Council consistent with its being the second most highly-endorsed party in Hackney, and even a Green deputy mayor. As it is, all those considered votes count for nothing at all. With a national election coming up next year, surely this is the time to hold this conversation with as many of SH's supporters as possible - and doing so at the AGM would engage more people at once than any other means.

Is there something specific you want to raise?

Thanks, James.

Sadly, it's now rather late for proposing any additional items, isn't it? There doesn't seem to be the usual "any other business" item, either....

The AGM papers have been reposted on a public page with  apologies.  No secrets there, I'm afraid. AGM 2014

So one has to be a member to see the AGM documents, even though the AGM is held in public.

Don't you think that people would be more likely to consider becoming members if they could see the organisation's formal documents first? And wouldn't it be better and more inclusive, appropriate to an umbrella organisation like SH, to be more transparent about the mechanics of the organisation than to keep all formalities as secret as possible?

Still looking for a link to the promised agenda for the AGM, please.

What's on the agenda and how can people propose items to be added to it, please?

A link to the draft agenda here would be very helpful.
