Event Description

Empowering Hackney with Education for Sustainable Development

Hackney can boast dozens of local environmental campaigns - from cycling, recycling, air quality, food, waste, community energy, biodiversity, to the built environment, social justice and many more. But what part does Education for Sustainable Development play in the borough and what more can be done to empower the next generation? According to the United Nations, Education for Sustainable Development allows every human being to acquire the knowledge, skills, attitudes and values necessary to shape a sustainable future. Empowerment lies at the heart of effective teaching and learning.

Sustainable Hackney's AGM on 28th June will debate these issues. Confirmed speakers include:

  • Jon Burke, LBH Cabinet Member for Sustainability
  • Dr Neil Herrington from the London Centre of Excellence in ESD
  • Jessica Dolan, Director of local project EcoActive
  • More to be confirmed

Join us for an interesting discussion and socialising and networking at the Curve Garden afterwards.
