As Diana has pointed out these are self-help workshops and we expect people to work on their own devices, garments, bikes, etc and learn new skills from doing so.  We need to communicate that expectation and do more to align the non-electrical repair with the Restart model.

Busy -ish. Coinciding with Open House London may have been the cause of that, though.

Enjoyable - no. I volunteered to offer my repairing skills to people needing help to do clothes etc repairs, not to be left endlessly fixing naff factory seconds while the people from Traid monopolised all those (few) requesting help.

That's not the model on which the e-repair workshop is run, after all. That evidently recognises that each should be able to contribute according to their abilities, which is why getting involved is fun.

I'm happy to volunteer for the wardrobe refreshing team again, but please introduce some ground rules about what people expect of us.

The Arcola event was ruined (for me, at least) by people who brought in lots of garments which they expected us to repair for them - rather than our showing them how to do their own repairs. Some garments were even dirty, which was disgusting. We were also asked to undertake difficult leather repairs, which really isn't practicable.
